This film was based on actual events, with the story gathered from conversations between the director and someone he met in an online chat room. 

Regarding the film’s title: While some sites list it as Guy 101, I’m using guy101 since this is how the director lists the short on his Vimeo channel and in the 2012 book Animating the Unconscious: Desire, Sexuality and Animation edited by Jayne Pilling.
