Kapaemahu
Description
This short tells the legend of Kapaemahu, the four Healer Stones in Waikiki, Hawaii. These stones were erected in honor of the visiting māhū (when one embodies both a male and female spirit) who arrived in Ulukou from Tahiti and were respected by the community for their skills as healers.
Narrated by Hinaleimoana Wong-Kalu, in the behind-the-scenes video, Daniel Sousa, the animation director mentions that Hinaleimoana was a source of reference for the designs of the māhū in this short.
