Persepolis
Dublin Core
Title
Persepolis
Description
Note: This film contains suicidal imagery and violence.
An adaptation of the graphic novel series by Marjane Satrapi, this biographical film follows Marjane, starting when she lived through the impact of the Iranian Revolution in 1979 and the Iran–Iraq War that soon followed. Eventually, her parents, fearing for her safety, sent her to live in Vienna, Austria, alone. After several years living in Vienna, she returns home and must adapt to life in a post-war Iran.
It is during her time in Vienna - a more sexually liberated place compared to Iran - that Marjane interacts with gay men, first her multiple roommates she lived with for a period while "apartment hopping," and later Fernando, the first man she ever slept with.
