<text>In this short documentary, transgender rights activist Gavin Grimm talks about his fight for bathroom equality as a trans teen in high school, and the transphobia and restrictions he endured from adults.

A portion of the audio within the animation is taken from November 11, 2014, when Gavin spoke in front of the Gloucester County School Board Meeting.

As detailed on the ACLU's website, the Gavin Grimm v. Gloucester County School Board case started a few years earlier when Gavin sued his school board in 2015 "for discriminating against him in violation of the Equal Protection Clause and Title IX of the U.S. Education Amendments of 1972, a federal law prohibiting sex discrimination by schools." When NBC News covered the case in 2020, they reported that it was supposed to be presented to the United States Supreme Court in 2017 but faced delays due to the Trump administration removing the guidance set in place during President Obama’s administration. Now, back at the lower Circuit Court of Appeals, it took several years until the case could be re-reviewed by the Supreme Court. In 2021, the Supreme Court dismissed the case, which allowed the lower court rulings to stand, both of which were in favor of Gavin.</text>

Unfortunately, the festivities are disrupted when a villainous rat kidnaps one of the mice.

During the show, a performance by the “Ratz Brothers” occurs. These performers are a reference to the Ritz Brothers, known for often incorporating "burlesque" (or what could now be described as drag) into their routines. This portrayal of the Ritz Brothers is a much more pared-down version with them only donning a bonnet compared to the full-drag costumes they often wore in their films. Two years later, Disney referenced the Ritz Brothers in one of their shorts, with more emphasis on the team’s use of drag and effeminate mannerisms (see The Autograph Hound).</text>
