As discussed in Gay New York: Gender, Urban Culture, and the Making of the Gay Male World, 1890-1940 (Chauncey, 1994), the term 'fairy' was associated with gay men during this period and as early as the 1890s (p. 99). Kenny dies and is sent to hell, where he meets Satan and his lover Saddam Hussein. A war is declared between the United States and Canada, Big Gay Al sings a fabulous musical number in a USO show, and a looming apocalypse adds more unexpected events to this quiet, little mountain town.

Regarding South Park canon, when the film was originally released, it was stated in season 2 episode 2, "Cartman's Mom Is Still a Dirty Slut," that Cartman's mom was intersex. However, this was later revealed to be false in season 14, episode 6, "201." Since the initial "reveal" was treated more as a gross-out gag, I will be following the later canon rather than what the audience believed to be true when the film was released.</dcterms:description>
