The Mitchells vs. The Machines
Dublin Core
Title
The Mitchells vs. The Machines
Description
Katie is excited to go to film school and finally be among people who understand her. At the last minute, her Dad decides that he and the rest of her family should drive her to school. What she expects to be a typical cross-country family trip turns into an unexpected adventure when they must stop a looming robot apocalypse.
While Katie is explicitly queer in the film, she does not label herself. Netflix posted a video titled Katie Mitchell: A Protagonist of Our Time on their YouTube channel. In the interviews with the crew, including Katie's voice actress Abbi Jacobson, known for her comedic talents and work as a television writer, some consider Katie as 'gay,' while others describe her as 'queer.' Therefore, I will categorize her as both.
